CHICAGO, Feb. 8, 2010 - The Chicago Minority Supplier Development
Council (CMSDC), the Chicago chapter of a nationwide organization
dedicated to advancing the interests of minority entrepreneurs,
announced today that it has named Information Resources, Inc. (IRI), as
a certified Minority Business Enterprise.
Companies that work with IRI can consider these engagements against
both public and private standards in place for hiring minority-owned
businesses. In addition, certain tax benefits may be available to these
organizations. CMSDC's definition of a minority owned business includes
one that is owned or controlled by members of one of the following
eligible groups: African Americans, Aleuts, Asian Indians,
Asian-Pacific Americans, Eskimos, Latin Americans, and Native
Americans.
"IRI is pleased work with CMSDC to assist in their efforts to expand
the hiring of minority owned businesses," said John Freeland, president
and chief executive officer of IRI. "We appreciate CMSDC designating
IRI a Minority Business Enterprise. Many IRI customers are dedicated to
working with organizations of diverse ownership as well as furthering
the careers of minority employees within their organizations."
About the Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council
The CMSDC is one of the nation\'s premier organizations for minority
business development in the nation. For more than 30 years, CMSDC has
championed the interests of minority entrepreneurs in Chicago and
nationally. CMSDC\'s Chicago Business Opportunity Fair, which is in its
fourth decade, was the impetus for the founding of the National
Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (NMSDC), a network of more
than 40 regional Councils in major cities across the country. CMSDC was
born out of a direct initiative of corporate, government and civic
leaders in response to a call from the minority community for business
access and economic parity.
